Est. in 1987, Bruce Perry
Bloodstock Limited is run by Bruce and Anna Perry. Both have had life long
involvement with thoroughbreds.
Bruce grew up at his familys'
Highden Stud while Anna grew up at Riddlesworth Stud which was owned by
her parents. He went on to work for Joe Yorke (leading horse breaker &
Olympic showjumper), Neville Begg (a leading trainer in Australia &
Hong Kong before retiring recently), Widden Stud (famous Australian Stud)
and Haunui Farms (a leading New Zealand Stud).
Married in 1992 they now
have two daughters and live in Wairarapa (a well know wine making region
& the home of the historic Te Parae Stud).
Bruce is recently completed
a second term on the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders' Council and two
terms as a director New Zealand Thoroughbred Marketing. He is currently
vice-president of the Masterton Racing Club and represents the Wellington
region on the Central Racing Cluster Board. Bruce is also the current president
of the New Zealand Bloodstock Agents Federation.
Highlights for the company
include recommending and purchasing Happyanunoit on behalf of American
clients at the end of her 2yo career. She went on to win three Grade
One races on the turf.
Another highlight was the
purchase of Emerald Dream in 2001 on behalf of the Carter family. The Danehill
mare was to be their first broodmare and was purchased as a G3 placed,
two win mare.
Within six exciting months
Emerald Dream won a Group 1, a Group 3 and a Listed race to become one
of the most valuable mares in Australasia.
